Claude Gros

I’ve been tasting with oenologist and winemaker Claude Gros for upwards of a decade now and I’d wager he’s one of the most talented, yet least known top consultants in the wine world today. While Claude is most widely known for his role in the success of  Château la Négly and Clos des Truffiers, both located in the Languedoc, he works with a number of top estates throughout the world and has clients in the Languedoc, Roussillon, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Spain, Corsica, Washington State, and California, among others.

This report looks explicitly at Claude’s estates in the Languedoc and Roussillon with a focus on the newly released 2016s. This was a hot, dry vintage for both regions that produced rich, powerful wines. Similar to the Southern Rhône, this is a great vintage for both the Languedoc and Roussillon.

All of the wines were tasted in Bordeaux in the spring of 2018, with Claude and his upcoming assistant, Didier Lacreu.

Happy hunting and go find some of these wines!
