My ongoing coverage of the small, artisanal importers continues with this latest report on Hand Picked Selections, now under the ownership of Sunil Khanna and business partner Chris Desor. Sunil worked alongside founder Dan Kravitz for some 14 years before taking the reins, and the portfolio remains exactly what longtime followers have come to expect: a deep well of family-owned growers, small estates, and top co-ops sourced from across Europe and beyond. This latest tasting confirms the quality and value are very much intact, with a wide range of wines spanning the Languedoc, Roussillon, Savoie, Burgundy, Chablis, Sancerre, and Provence, with a mix of terrific summer quaffers as well as serious wines for the cellar.
These wines were tasted at my office in Colorado, and as always with this portfolio, there’s plenty here to satisfy both the palate and the pocketbook.
