Dear Friends,

I’m thrilled to announce that Virginie Boone will be joining our team at JebDunnuck.com!

Virginie is a UC Berkeley political science graduate with a master’s degree in journalism from Stanford University. She began her career at Lonely Planet, an experience that helped shape her unique perspective on wine criticism. She later went on to spend several years at the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, writing features and news stories about wine, food, and travel for the daily newspaper, formerly owned by the New York Times Co., and its quarterly food and wine magazine, Savor. Her work at the Press Democrat opened the door to a contributing editor and reviewer role at Wine Enthusiast, where Boone spent over a decade as the wine critic for Napa and Sonoma, responsible for over 30,000 reviews during her tenure. Additionally, Boone has written about wine, spirits, and travel for Wine Spectator, Food & Wine, Somm Journal, Tasting Panel, GuildSomm, and others.

Virginie will be in charge of key regions in Spain and South America and will bring additional coverage in California with designated reports on the Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Lucia Highlands, Sierra Foothills, and Mendocino. Additionally, I will be turning over the reins for Washington state to Virginie. I continue to believe in and love Washington state wines, and I am happy to see the region pass to someone as talented as Virginie.

Audrey will continue covering Italy in addition to Sonoma, Oregon, and Champagne. Outside of Washington, my areas of coverage will remain the same.

You can find the full press release below.

As always, thanks for reading,

Jeb

Jeb Dunnuck.com Enhances Wine Review Platform with Coverage of Two New Countries and More California Regions

Site Welcomes Virginie Boone as a Senior Editor

(Boulder, CO – September 24, 2024) — Noted wine critic Jeb Dunnuck, founder of JebDunnuck.com, announced several key enhancements to his popular wine review platform. Coverage will now include wines from Spain and Argentina, and the site will also offer comprehensive coverage on four new California regions: Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Lucia Highlands, Sierra Foothills, and Mendocino.

Dunnuck also welcomes Virginie Boone as a senior editor on October 1. Boone will be responsible for the Washington state wine report (formerly covered by Jeb Dunnuck), as well as new reports covering Spain, Argentina, and multiple California AVAs.

“Virginie has nearly two decades of experience in wine criticism and journalism, and we are incredibly excited about the knowledge and insights she’ll bring to Jeb Dunnuck.com as we expand our team and coverage,” says Dunnuck. “Our readers expect skilled coverage of the world’s most popular and respected wine regions, and Virginie will continue to help us achieve that goal.”

“I am excited to play a part in growing JebDunnuck.com,” said Boone.  “I look forward to taking the reins for Washington wines and bringing our readers new insights on Spain and Argentina, as well as some of the hidden gems from California.”

Boone honed her knowledge of wine writing for publications like Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, Food + Wine, and The Press Democrat. She began her career after studying Political Science at U.C. Berkley and earning a master’s degree in journalism from Stanford University. Post-graduation, Boone started her journalistic career as a travel writer before switching to wine. Boone is based in Sonoma, CA.

Dunnuck will continue to focus on the wines from California, Southern France, and Bordeaux. Audrey Frick will continue to cover Sonoma, Willamette Valley, Italy, and Champagne.

Dunnuck’s goal with JebDunnuck.com is to provide insight and up-to-date wine information that can’t be found anywhere else. “There’s been a disappointing trend in wine criticism, with many publications moving away from keeping the consumer top of mind,” Dunnuck said. “I want to be the go-to publication that helps consumers cut through the marketing and the spin to zero in on what’s in the glass. I plan to continue delivering the information consumers need to know when deciding what to buy and what to drink.”
