2017 Patz & Hall Chardonnay Dutton Ranch

From the Russian River, the 2017 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch is a step up and has more intensity and depth, with a rocking bouquet of honey stone fruits, brioche, toasted hazelnuts, and crushed stone. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and beautifully balanced, with bright acidity, it has a kiss of background oak but is a seriously good, layered effort that will cruise for 5-7 years, probably longer.

2017 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir Chenoweth Ranch

The 2017 Pinot Noir Chenoweth Ranch comes from a site in the Russian River yet has a more Sonoma Coast-like vibrancy and purity, with lots of mulled red and black fruits, pine and foresty nuances, and just a hint of classic Russian River cola and spice. Medium-bodied, nicely textured and elegant on the palate, it has good acidity, fine tannins, and is going to evolve nicely for a decade.

This is a great vineyard, and the only downside here is that there were only 713 cases produced. Drink bottles over the coming 5-7 years.
