2017 Landmark Vineyards Chardonnay Damaris Reserve

The Sonoma Coast 2017 Chardonnay Damaris Reserve reveals a medium gold color as well as lots of melon, honeyed apple, brioche, and a touch of background oak. On the palate, it offers medium-bodied richness, good acidity, and a clean, balanced style. It's rich, with maybe a touch of Burgundian character, and has good acidity. This is a solid effort as well as a value in well-made California Chardonnay.

Beautiful spice, white flowers, brioche, and honeyed stone fruit notes emerge from the 2017 Chardonnay Hilliard Bruce. Coming from a great site on the northern side of the Sta. 2017 Landmark Vineyards Chardonnay Rodgers Creek

Honeyed apricots, spice, pineapple, and some brioche and toasty notes all emerge from the medium-bodied 2017 Chardonnay Rodgers Creek. It's too honeyed aromatically for me, but it holds it together on the palate and has good acidity as well as a clean, crisp finish.

2017 Landmark Vineyards Chardonnay Overlook

Spiced orchard fruits, brioche, honeyed pineapple, and lots of spice emerge from the 2017 Chardonnay Overlook. This is a rich, nicely textured, balanced Chardonnay that way over-delivers at the price. I don't expect it to make old bones, but it's one delicious drink today.

2017 Landmark Vineyards Pinot Noir La Encantada

Another Sta. Rita Hills release, the 2017 Pinot Noir La Encantada comes from a site on the southern side of the appellation and spent 10 months in 35% new French oak. Ripe strawberries, violets, rose petals, and spicy notes as well as that marine-like saltiness that always seems to be present in wines from this region all give way to a seamless, ethereal Pinot Noir that has great tannins, integrated acidity, and outstanding length. The balance as well as the texture are superb, and this beauty is ideal for drinking over the coming 5-7 years, even though it will most likely keep longer.

2017 Landmark Vineyards Pinot Noir Escolle Road

The 2017 Pinot Noir Escolle Road comes from the Santa Lucia Highlands and, like most releases here, was destemmed and brought up mostly in neutral oak. Ruby/purple-hued with ripe black cherry and blackberry fruits intermixed with a touch of black tea, spice, and forest floor, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, has a big mid-palate, lots of fruit, yet also good acidity. A lively, powerful Pinot Noir from this region, it’s going to evolve nicely for 4-6 years.
