2018 La Crema Pinot Noir 40Th Anniversary

A tiny production cuvee that's a cellar selection from sites in the Russian River, the 2018 Pinot Noir 40th Anniversary was 90% destemmed and spent ten months in 36% new French oak. It has a more fresh, focused, medium-bodied style offering lots of redcurrant and black raspberry fruit, a touch of background oak, plenty of earthy, charcoal, and graphite notes, ripe tannins, and good acidity. It's a beautiful wine yet still tight and closed. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy through 2028.

2017 La Crema Chardonnay Saralee's Vineyard

The 2017 Chardonnay Saralee's Vineyard is a touch more reserved and closed, yet has more concentration as well as depth. Stone fruits, white flowers, crushed rock-like minerality, and a touch of charcoal all slowly emerge from the glass, and it's nicely textured and medium to full-bodied, with integrated acidity, background oak, and a clean, crisp finish. It's a classy Chardonnay to enjoy over the coming 2-5 years.

2017 La Crema Chardonnay Kelli-Ann Vineyard

Fermented and aged in 35% new French oak, the 2017 Chardonnay Kelli-Ann Vineyard comes from the Russian River and spent 14 months in barrel prior to bottling. A ripe, classic bouquet of buttered apples, white flowers, toasted bread, and hints of nuttiness give way to a medium-bodied Chardonnay that's nicely balanced, with good acidity and a great finish. It's another high-quality Chardonnay from this estate that I'd be happy to drink.

2017 La Crema Chardonnay 9 Barrel

From a selection of growers in the Russian River Valley, the 2017 Chardonnay 9 Barrel has a ripe, tropical bouquet of tart pineapple, buttered lemons, flowers, and toasted bread. This carries to a medium to full-bodied Chardonnay with a terrific mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a crisp finish. Impeccably made, it’s a terrific Chardonnay to enjoy over the coming 4-6 years. I don't think it matches the 2016, but it's a beautiful wine.

It's a polished, layered, seamless wine from this team, and one of my favorites in the lineup.

2017 La Crema Pinot Noir 9 Barrel

As with the Chardonnay 9 Barrel, the 2017 Pinot Noir 9 Barrel is a tiny selection made from the Russian River Valley that spent 14 months in 50% new French oak. Rocking notes of black raspberries, wild strawberries, toasted spices, caramelized violets, and forest floor notes all emerge from the glass and it's medium to full-bodied, has a fresh, focused texture, good mid-palate depth, and nicely integrated oak. It's going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age and should keep nicely through 2027.
