2018 J. Rochioli Pinot Noir Sweetwater

Looking at the two single vineyard releases, the 2018 Pinot Noir Sweetwater comes from the Russian River and was 10% destemmed. Brough up in French oak and unfiltered, it has an incredible bouquet of black raspberries, spring flowers, violets, and just a touch of pine and forest floor. With incredible purity of fruit, no hard edges, building tannins, and a great finish, it ranks with the finest wines in this great vintage!

2018 J. Rochioli Chardonnay Little Hill

Showing more precision, the 2018 Chardonnay Little Hill is a tiny production release (there are 149 cases) from a site in the Russian River Valley and spent 8 months in French oak. Beautiful white flowers, bright citrus, lemon curd, green almond, and a distinct salinity all emerge from the glass, and it builds nicely with air, showing medium-bodied richness, bright yet integrated acidity, and a great, mouthwatering finish. It's going to evolve for at least a decade. This is another stunning wine from Tom Rochioli that has plenty of California richness yet still comes across as a Grand Cru white Burgundy.
