2019 Alma De Cattleya Rose Of Pinot Noir

Made all from Pinot Noir, the 2019 Rose Of Pinot Noir is a terrific value in California rosé, offering a light pink/salmon color to go with spicy, cherry, and salty aromas and flavors. Well-balanced, with medium-bodied richness, good acidity, and a great finish, it's actually more in the style of a rosé from Bandol with its fresh yet rich style. It's going to be great on the dinner table.

2017 Alma De Cattleya Cabernet Sauvignon

Coming all from Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon spent 18 months mostly in neutral oak, with just 10% in new French oak. In a youthful style that's going to benefit from a few years in bottle, it has lots of black raspberry and redcurrant fruits, some spicy wood, and dried herb aromatics, medium to full-bodied richness, good acidity, and terrific balance. An outstanding, classy Cabernet Sauvignon, it stays tight and compact on the palate and actually reminds me more of a Cabernet from Sonoma than Napa. It's going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and evolve nicely for a decade (or more). Napa Valley Cabernet at under $50? Yes, please.
