2018 Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage Blanc

A classic, age-worthy effort, the 2018 Crozes-Hermitage Blanc offers complex notes of honeyed apples and crushed citrus intermixed with notes of sappy green herbs, crushed stone, and spice. This medium-bodied, lively white has good acidity, a supple, elegant texture, no hard edges, and a great finish.

The Graillot family continues to release traditional, age-worthy, classic wines under their family label. Northern Rhône doesn’t get any more Northern Rhône than these releases and they’ve done well in both 2017 and 2018. Readers should also check out the Equis and Domaine des Lises releases, both made by Maxime Graillot.

2018 Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage Equinoxe

A meaty, exotic bouquet of dark fruits, gamey meat, olive, and spring flowers emerge from the 2018 Crozes-Hermitage Equinoxe. It’s beautiful on the palate, with loads of ripe fruit, medium to full body, ripe tannins, and a big finish. Drink this well-made, flavorful, and pleasure-bent beauty over the coming 5-7 years.

2017 Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage Domaine Des Lises Blanc

The 2017 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine Des Lises Blanc is another complex wine, offering medium-bodied notes of tart limes, mint, and flinty minerality. It’s racy and vibrant, yet backs it up with solid depth of fruit as well as outstanding balance.

2017 Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage

The 2017 Crozes-Hermitage is a classic Crozes that shines for its complexity as well as texture. Complex notes of ripe black fruits, olives, spring flowers, and pepper all emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, bright acidity, and building tannins, all of which give the wine a firm, age-worthy feel. It's got plenty of fruit and will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and keep for over a decade. Lovers of impeccably made, old school Northern Rhône Syrah can't go wrong with a case of this.

2017 Alain Graillot Saint Joseph

I loved Graillot’s 2017 Saint Joseph. This beauty just screams Northern Rhône! Ground pepper, blackberries, leafy herbs, game, and hints of bacon fat all flow to a medium-bodied, elegant Saint Joseph that has nicely integrated acidity, building tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-4 years of bottle age but will impress for at least 8-10 years.
