The 2021s from Napa Valley are starting to hit the market, and we’ll do our best to stay on top of new releases prior to publishing our full report later this year. Readers can find in-depth vintage information at Napa Valley’s 2020s and 2021s, which was published earlier this year. I’ll be spending a full month in the Valley in 2023 with a focus on the 2021s, and this is certainly another impressive vintage that reminds me slightly of 2013.

This small report looks at the newly bottled 2021s from Carter Cellars and Bevan Cellars, both of which were made by Russell Bevan. The Carter wines show a slightly more dialed-back style with terrific purity, and the Bevan Cellar releases are classic Bevan wines with incredible power and richness while staying balanced and pure. The vast majority of the wines in the report (and I expect with most 2021s from Napa) will benefit from bottle age.

Happy hunting and thanks for reading,

Jeb
