This small report looks at the 2018 Syrahs from winemaker Mike Smith. While all of the wines showed beautifully, the Myriad releases come mostly from the Sonoma side of the mountains and have more cool-climate, perfumed characters, while the Quivet releases, particularly the Kenefick Ranch releases, offer a more fruit-forward, opulent style. However, as I comment in the reviews, none of these wines lack fruit or opulence, and they have singular characters. Readers looking to see what top-notch, cool-climate Syrah can do from California should snatch these up.
